Mood Lifters, providers of mental health support services via the Mood Lifters Application (“App”) and website (“Site”) would like to inform our prospective or active members (“you” or “participants”) of how we manage and protect personal information in connection with the App and Site and in operating Mood Lifters group programs.
We will update this policy from time to time as needed.
Please review our Terms of Service which govern general use of the App and Site.
Mood Lifters does not currently serve individuals outside of the United States and may not comply with privacy requirements applicable elsewhere.
Information we request and retain
Mood Lifters retains information it requests from participants such as name, email address, phone number, reasons for interest in our services and possibly other particulars. Subsequently we may retain information about confirmed activities in our group programs, ie. scheduling, progress, surveys and other follow up responses.
We will retain your information for as long as your Mood Lifters program continues or your account is active, or otherwise as needed to provide Mood Lifters services, to participate in scientific research or to comply with legal obligations. Where we participate in scientific research using participant data, such data may be retained indefinitely but it will only be shared and retained in depersonalized form, never to be associated with any participant’s personal identity.
Information we may collect automatically
We do not presently collect and retain computer or Internet connection related information when you use our App or Site, beyond that necessary to ensure correct basic operations. We use Google Analytics for internal monitoring and optimization purposes, as further illustrated at https://analytics.google.com/.
Additionally, the Mood Lifters App tracks ‘points’ earned by members as they progress through program activities.
If in the future we make further use of ‘cookies’ or other tracking technologies to collect and retain information such as IP address, page views, referral URL, ad data, device identifiers, transaction history, web logs, search and browsing data, we will describe such activities in updates of this Privacy Policy.
Uses of collected information
In any event, we will only use data associated with your Mood Lifters activities to 1) enhance your online experience, 2) optimize participant services, internal operations or quality control or 3) support selected mental health research studies in which only depersonalized, aggregate data is utilized. You may decline to permit research uses of your data by making a an opt-out request via email to info@moodlifters.com, via physical mail to Mood Lifters, 600 S. Mood Lifters will not sell personal data or otherwise provide it to anyone outside of our organization except: 1) where it is necessary to share your data with trusted service providers who facilitate our technology, research activities or payment transactions, 2) where we are required to do so under legal authority, 3) where we are concerned you are a threat to yourselves or others or 4) if you provide information regarding elder or child abuse.
Mood Lifters leaders and staff members may send you essential email confirmations of program scheduling as well as information about program events, progress and activities. You may decline to receive nonessential Mood Lifters communications by making an opt-out request via email to info@moodlifters.com, via physical mail to Mood Lifters, 600 S. Security practices
Whether you are visiting the Mood Lifters Site, using the App, or present at one of our group sessions, we apply multiple, redundant measures to keep your personal information confidential. In our personal interactions or on our App we request that all participants make a written commitment to mutual confidentiality. Our group leaders are trained in confidentiality and security practices and required to maintain strict privacy vigilance at all times. The Site and App use encryption technology such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and other security technologies to protect information submitted by our users and members. Furthermore, the App is currently hosted by www.emedapps.com, whose services and security measures are compliant with the HIPAA Privacy Rule, the U.S. law governing management of personal health information. In any event no security technology is perfect and the Internet itself is always subject to imperfections and vulnerabilities. Mood Lifters engages in ongoing efforts to maintain the best possible data security but can never guarantee the security of any information you provide to us.
