Mental Wellness in a Challenging Time

There’s no doubt about it—things are very, very hard right now. For those struggling with sadness, worry or stress, Mood Lifters provides a science-based strategy that can help you feel better. The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit has partnered with Mood Lifters to offer this program to Jewish community members throughout Michigan at no cost thanks to the generosity of the Ravitz Foundation.

Mood Lifters is an innovative program that was developed by researchers at the University of Michigan and designed to help everyone — from people who are experiencing significant anxiety and depression to those who simply want to learn new strategies to help them thrive. The Mood Lifters program brings together small groups to discuss, learn and implement strategies that improve mental health and overall well-being.

Mood Lifters improves lives through:

  • Teaching effective strategies based on science
  • Skilled peer leaders who have benefitted from the program themselves
  • Accountability and motivation from our point system
  • Support and encouragement from fellow group members

Mood Lifters is made up of hour-long meetings, once a week for 15 weeks. In each of the 15 weekly meetings, participants learn science-based techniques and set individual goals. In between meetings, participants practice the strategies and track their progress through the Mood Lifters’ app. Currently, all meetings are held virtually on Zoom.

  • Wednesdays from 12-1 pm
    Wednesday, April 7 through July 14 – 15 weeks

  • Thursdays from 7-8 pm
    Thursday, May 13 through August 26 – 15 weeks

  • Thursdays from 12-1 pm
    Thursday, June 10 through September 23 – 15 weeks (ends 9/23 due to the observation of Yom Kippur)
